Michael Parenti, 82, founder of Bozo’s Army and Navy Store, passed away Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022. During his childhood, Michael was known as a prankster, often starting problems for fun with the neighborhood kids, then leaving his brother to deal with it. He would regularly be found playing baseball with his friends and played for the “WMCA Good Guys” baseball team. At the same time, he was also working for his father and grandfather’s army and navy stores. Establishing Bozo’s on Staten Island in 1973 after many years owning stores in Brooklyn, ‘Mikey’ as his customers knew him, was the man who not only provided their workwear, but also brightened their day with jokes, and his very frank opinions. As a fan of baseball, he followed the Dodgers until they abandoned Brooklyn, at which point he became a fan of the Mets. Mike was very proud of sponsoring a championship Bozo’s Softball team in the mid-seventies. He also took pleasure in owning several successful racehorses and was known as the family handyman. Daniel T. Driscoll, 80, passed away on Sept. 21, 2022 after suffering a long but brave battle with cancer. Dan “Danny”, leaves behind a tremendous legacy of family, friends, and lasting contributions to the many communities with which he was closely involved. Dan was raised in Westerleigh, and he graduated from Curtis High School in 1959. In 1960, he followed in his father’s footsteps and entered a 6-year apprenticeship in the International Brotherhood of Electricial Workers. Simultaneously, Dan attended the College of Staten Island evening study program, from where he graduated in 1969. Additionally, he served in the Army National Guard from 1962-1968. Dan spent over 55 years working at Mulvihill Electric Co., as Superintendent and Vice President. He managed billion dollar projects such as the Holland Tunnel, and many other projects in NYC. Margaret (Peggy) Pendergast, 69, of Pennington, N.J., passed away Oct. 3, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family after a short and heroic battle with ALS. Born on Staten Island, Peggy was a retired Hospital Supervisor at the former St. Vincent’s Medical Center. She has lived in the Pennington area for over 10 years. Read the full obit on SILive.

Marguerite Francis Rose Bauer Shousha was born in Manhattan on Oct. 30, 1944. She enjoyed life on the lower east side for a short while before moving to Staten Island. Keypunch operator was her official title while working at Equitable Life Insurance for many many years. While living on Staten Island, she took advantage of the beautiful parks and hiking trails with her son throughout his childhood, bringing him great joy. Jeannette Horyn McDermott, 93, long time resident of upstate New York who relocated down to South Carolina in 2016 to be near her family, passed away on August 19, 2022 at her daughter Chris McMichael’s home, where she resided. Born in Brooklyn on April 25, 1929, Jeannette loved good food — she was always cooking and she also loved socializing. Jill Ada Caruso, 74 of West Brighton, passed away peacefully on Sept. 30, 2022, with her family by her side after a short illness. Jill had a very large extended family filled with many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews that she loved to talk to them on the phone and spend time with. Jill was a native Staten Islander, born and raised in Mariners Harbor and was graduated from Port Richmond High School. She retired from Chase Manhattan Bank as Foreign Loan Representative, for 40 years. She loved all holidays especially Christmas when most of her family would get together and have a feast of foods. Bryan David Dilberian Jr., 36, of Staten Island passed away peacefully at his home on Oct. 1, 2022. He joined the Army in 2010 and served his country in Afghanistan during 2011. Bryan was a very social and outgoing soul who easily made countless friends during his time in the army, locksmithing job, and time working with FDNY. Bryan was a frequent traveler and visited numerous family and friends throughout the country who welcomed him with open arms. He loved riding his motorcycle locally whenever possible, and made the long ride to Sturgis with his closest friends. He enjoyed many activities including fishing, bowling, and darts. Kathleen A. Fisher, native Staten Islander, loving daughter, sister, aunt, great aunt, cousin, and friend passed away peacefully on Oct. 3, 2022, just nine days after her 67th birthday, due to a brain injury. Kathy was so grateful to the staff at Eger Harbor House Assisted Living where she lived for just under two years. Kathy worked or volunteered as a Candy Striper and a Transporter at a nursing home. She worked at a Homeless Shelter and Seaview Nursing Home as a housekeeper. Kathy loved being with family, especially her nieces & nephews as well as her grandnieces & nephews. Vincent J. Galli, 76, passed away on Oct. 5, 2022. He was patriotic man who enlisted in the Marine Corps and served honorably. He married Vita Cordaro in 1968 and later moved to Staten Island where they started a family. Vincent was a union carpenter and later became a contractor in his own business. Vincent loved being on his boat, “The Vita” and was an avid fisherman. For 40 years he had his boat slip at Nichols Marina.
