The popular film screening event INDIE SHORT FILM SERIES will return to the Vinegar Hill Theatre in Charlottesville on Saturday, December 11 and January 15. The independent short film series was introduced to Charlottesville in 2019, and the award-winning short film program at the Sundance Film Festival and many other international film festivals was a huge success.

7pm on December 11th was the first part since March 2020, when Covid-19 caused theaters across the country to close or significantly reduce capacity. Ty Cooper, the founder of the independent short film series, has worked with multiple film festivals, including serving as an outreach and promotion consultant for the Virginia Film Festival, co-founder of the Sol Film Festival, and a member of the Sundance Academy in collaboration with the Sundance Film Festival Support ability.

The independent short film series was established to provide independent filmmakers with a platform to showcase their works and share their stories. For ordinary audiences, short films are often elusive, but the series provides a way for those who may never attend the Sundance Film Festival or the Toronto International Film Festival have the opportunity to see what may become our next Spielberg Grid, Tarantino or Spike’s work Lee.

The event not only screens international award-winning films, but Cooper is also committed to providing the same platform for local/regional filmmakers. At the December 11 event, two local filmmakers produced an eclectic combination of short films. The filmmakers Peter Gunter and Kent Wiley will screen their films and will participate in the filmmakers' panel discussion immediately after the screening. Every participant of the event will have the opportunity to vote for the Audience Choice Award.

Tickets for this event only cost $17.50 and can be purchased online at https://indieshortfilmseriesdec11.eventbrite.com. If the event is not sold out, you can buy tickets at the door for $20, but we encourage you to buy in advance.

To protect our customers, we must wear a mask when sitting in the theater. For more information, please contact us via email: asureshot1@gmail.com.
