ITA Airways, Alitalia’s successor airline, announced that it will have new onboard uniforms, new cabin interiors and an improved in-flight dining experience. This new look will be unveiled on June 2nd, on the inaugural flight of the new Italian flag carrier between Rome-Fiumicino (FCO) and Buenos Aires-Ezeiza (EZE), operated by an Airbus A350-900.

The company highlighted the new focus of its image, committed to Italian style and sustainability. About the A350, the company said it is «the new ambassador of ITA Airways in the world, with the work of three prestigious Italian talents in the evolution of its image».

Airline staff and Brunello Cucinelli jointly designed new crew uniforms. The idea, according to the luxury fashion brand, is to bring Italian haute couture style on board the aircraft and to represent Italy’s image as «the cradle of a culture inspired by beauty, art, and traditions». The new uniforms will be phased into service across the fleet over the coming months.

Designer Walter De Silva developed the new cabin interiors. «Design is a transversal and universal language and the interior of an aircraft, like any space in motion, is a place to be shared», he said.

On the other hand, Michelin-starred chef Enrico Bartolini developed the new gastronomic service. The menus, according to Bartolini, are inspired by the tradition of Italian cuisine. Periodically, proposals from other internationally renowned Italian chefs will alternate.

According to ITA Airways, «the mblem of excellence, style, elegance, taste and, in a single word, Italian creativity, becomes an integral part» of the company and highlight «the company’s strong ties with the territory and the passions of Italians.»

On June 2nd, the day Italy celebrates the Festa della Repubblica, the Italian national day, there will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the airline’s inaugural flight to Buenos Aires. The flight, AZ681 (the same number as Alitalia’s daily flight) is scheduled to depart at 12:40 local time and arrive at 6:40 the following day, Argentina time.

It will be a special operation, as it will mark the return of scheduled flights between Italy and Argentina, two countries with strong historical ties. Services were interrupted in March 2020, when both Alitalia and Aerolíneas Argentinas de-scheduled their connections in the face of the implementation of air movement restriction measures.

The aircraft that will operate the flight will be the company’s first to feature the new image and services on board, which will be gradually introduced across the fleet. Initially, ITA Airways will offer five weekly frequencies between the two capitals. Starting in August, the airline will operate one daily flight.

On the same day, the airline’s first flight to São Paulo-Guarulhos (GRU) will depart from Fiumicino. Initially, five weekly frequencies will be available in both directions. The route will be operated by Airbus A330 aircraft. Starting June 6th, a codeshare agreement with Azul Linhas Aéreas will enable the Italian airline’s customers to fly to eight Brazilian cities.

Also in June, ITA Airways will inaugurate daily flights to Los Angeles (LAX). The launch of the route consolidates the company’s presence in the U.S. market. The airline plans to offer up to 42 weekly flights between Italy and the United States in August.
