Santa Anita Amps Up for Sunday's Opening Day - The Pressbox

With Opening Day entries for a mega 11-race card taken and drawn, the holiday table is set for Santa Anita’s traditional Winter/Spring Meeting, which opens this Sunday.  A total of six graded stakes will headline a day of world class racing with special early first post time at 11 a.m.

In addition to great racing, on-track fans will again be treated to Santa Anita’s traditional Wall Calendar which is free with paid admission.  Additionally, the popular Mathis Brothers Plush Toy Horse will again be available by making a $20 charitable donation to the California Retirement Management Account (CARMA), which provides assistance to retired Thoroughbreds.

Admission gates will open at 9 a.m. and three Grade I stakes, the $300,000 Runhappy Malibu, the $300,0000 La Brea and the $300,000 American Oaks, along with the Grade II, $200,000 San Antonio, the Grade II, $200,000 Mathis Mile and the Grade II, $200,000 San Gabriel Stakes, will all figure prominently throughout the day.

–Experience Dining Offerings including a FrontRunner Menu curated by Celebrity Chef Jeremy Fall, a Silks (Formerly Turf Terrace) menu featuring Santa Anita Classics and the Santa Anita BBQ in the Loge Box Seats & Trackside Dining.  All packages include a Reserved Seat.

–Craft Beer & Cider Tasting on the Grandstand Apron.

–Infield Winter Family Fun Zone, including Pony Rides, Face Painting, Games & more
